Bath Street Seminars:

Now in their third year Bath Street Seminars offer an opportunity for professionals to get together in a relaxed atmosphere to discuss practical questions arising form their daily work.  The seminars are held at the Mediation and Therapy Rooms at 10 Bath Street Cheltenham GL50 1YE from 10 a.m until 4 p.m. Numbers are limited to 12 participants per seminar.

The cost of each seminar is £65 + vat (£78) which includes a buffet lunch.

13th July

Using Financial Information to create options in family mediations – regardless of how much or how little law you know, it is how you use it in the mediation room that’s important.  This is a seminar about empowering mediation participants to find consensus through the use of legal and other information.  A seminar for family mediators and others interested in providing clear and impartial legal information.

10th August

Drafting Mediation Documents – Memorandum of Understanding, Open Financial summaries, Parenting Plans and Outcome letters are a mediator’s shop window.  How we can improve the quality and effectiveness of what we do without getting bogged down in paper work?  A seminar for family mediators, and for family solicitors who are interested in finding out more about the documents they can expect family mediators to provide – their purpose and limitations.

14th September

Adapting the Model– using video, shuttle and hybrid mediation models effectively and in appropriate circumstances.  A seminar for family mediators and family lawyers interested in finding out more about the way in which family mediation can support their clients.

19th October

Working collaboratively in family mediation – building positive relationships with solicitors and other professionals in and outside the mediation room.  A seminar for family mediators, family solicitors and other professionals working with separating and divorcing couples.


Dealing with Impasse– a review of the skills that distinguish family mediation and collaborative law from negotiation.  The techniques that experienced family mediators have at their disposal can change attitudes and transform outcomes.  A day for refreshing our skills with opportunities for practice and discussion.  A seminar for family mediators, counsellors and others working with conflict.                        

16th November

Financial Disclosure in Mediation – working face to face with the mediation participants allows family mediators the opportunity of adapting their approach to suit the needs of each couple.  The seminar will discuss best practice, which questionnaires to use, what documents to request, appropriate levels of trust and the way in which the Open Financial Summary is drafted.  A seminar for family mediators and family solicitors who want to have a better understanding of the way in which mediators approach this crucial topic.

30th November

Facilitating Parental Communication – All those working with fractured families are painfully aware of the hurt felt by children as a result of their parents’ conflict.  This seminar aims to improve our understanding of parental conflict and help us to support parents and children more effectively.  The day will include discussion of child inclusive mediation.  A seminar for family mediators, and all those working with parental conflict and mistrust.
